About the Tarot

The tarot is traditionally divided into the Major Arcana and Minor Arcana. The Major Arcana describes larger life themes and spiritual lessons, while the Minor Arcana explores everyday experiences through four elemental suits.

Major Arcana

The Major Arcana represents major life lessons, archetypes and turning points.

Wands — Fire

The suit of inspiration, creativity, passion and action.

Cups — Water

The suit of emotions, relationships, intuition and connection.

Swords — Air

The suit of thought, communication, truth and challenge.

Pentacles — Earth

The suit of resources, work, manifestation and physical life.

Tarot Numerology

    The numbered cards of the Minor Arcana share common themes across all four suits. The number provides the underlying pattern while the suit shows how that pattern expresses itself.

    • Ace — Beginnings, potential, seeds, opportunities
    • Two — Balance, polarity, partnership, choices
    • Three — Growth, creativity, expansion, expression
    • Four — Stability, foundations, structure, rest
    • Five — Change, challenge, disruption, adaptation
    • Six — Harmony, cooperation, adjustment, support
    • Seven — Reflection, testing, assessment, deeper understanding
    • Eight — Movement, mastery, power, progress
    • Nine — Completion, fulfillment, wisdom, integration
    • Ten — Culmination, endings, transition into a new cycle
